Priestly Ordination

With the reading of a paternal message and the Apostolic Blessing of Pope Benedict XVI, the Most Rev. Benedito Beni dos Santos, Diocesan Bishop of Lorena, Brazil, commenced the ceremony of priestly ordination of 14 members of the Heralds of the Gospel.

The ceremony took place on March 19, 2012, Solemnity of St. Joseph, in the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, annexed to the Seminary of this institution. As Bishop Beni observed, the occasion was marked by a climate of “great happiness”, in harmony  with the liturgical feast of the Patriarch of the Holy Family.

The priests ordained come from four countries: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Spain. Despite the variety of nationalities they were united by one spirit—the will to serve the Church represented in the person of the Holy Father, in entire faithfulness to their own charism. The new priests will receive the responsibility of spiritually assisting the Heralds of the Gospel, and will aid in the works of evangelization carried out by the missionaries of this Association of Pontifical right. The new priests were incardinated in the Clerical Society of Apostolic Right Virgo Flos Carmeli, of which Msgr. João Scognamiglio Clá Dias, EP, is Superior General.

More than seventy priests concelebrated the Eucharist, manifesting their happiness with the new ordination. This spirit of joy and good will was also salient among the faithful who greeted the new priests with the sign of peace.
